Corrie Originals is a small studio based in Clarkville, North Canterbury, where unique toys are crafted with care. Our story is deeply rooted in history, dating back to WWII in occupied Holland. Facing a scarcity of toys for children at Christmas in 1940, my grandmother and other families came together to create handmade toys. My grandmother, known for her knitting skills, crafted dolls, doll clothes, and other items, sparking a tradition of handcrafted toys that continues today.

Our specialty at Corrie Originals lies in creating toys inspired by nature, particularly New Zealand native animals and endangered species worldwide. From Kiwis, Geckos, and Pukekos to Arctic Foxes, Walruses, Penguins, and Polar Bears, each toy reflects our commitment to environmental conservation and animal welfare. We also offer a range of classic toys, including teddy bears, octopuses, cats, dogs, rabbits, snakes, unicorns, and dinosaurs.

Using a variety of materials, we work with all types of wools, acrylic yarns, and cottons. Our toys are stuffed with locally sourced fillings, including carded wool and alpaca wool, echoing the resourceful spirit of generations past, ensuring each toy is not only beautiful but also mindful of our environmental impact.

Currently, we are working on several new additions to our collection, including the Chatham Island Robin and New Zealand native bats. For those seeking other animals or items, please feel free to inquire, as we are happy to accommodate special requests whenever possible.
