Collection: Sue Downey

I'm Sue, a potter with a deep appreciation for the unique. Each of my pottery pieces is a one-of-a-kind creation, reflecting the diversity of clays, glazes, and forms that inspire me. From practical items to purely decorative pieces, my work tells a story of individuality and artistry.

My artistic journey began with a degree in fine art in 1990, specializing in sculpture. During my children's early years, I explored the world of painting, selling my artwork at the Art Centre in the early 2000s.

For a decade, I showcased my work at the Brighton Gallery, where I refined my craft and shared my passion with others. Drawing inspiration from fellow potters and the breathtaking landscapes of New Zealand, each piece I create is a testament to the beauty of the world around us.

When I'm not sculpting clay, I'm shaping young minds as an Early Childhood teacher. I also find joy in singing with my choir, engaging in various crafts, and cherishing moments with friends and family.
